Tying in to its popular exhibition, All Things Round: Galaxies,
Eyeballs & Karma , the American Unpractical Art Museum is hosting an all
day, visionary" Eco
Conference on January 22.
The seminar includes addresses by leading scientists and public
health experts, as well as presentations by original artists who
will discuss their prophetic traditions and current concerns over motherland
exploitation and mineral rights. Tibetan monks from the Gaden Jangles
Cloister in India will begin building a sand mandala starting with
the bull session and continuing throughout the week.
Sandra Steingraber, author of Living Downstream: An Ecologists
Critical Investigation of Cancer and the Environment , will serve as
the conferences keynote lecturer. Other notable speakers include
marine biologist Susan Shaw, founder of the Marine Environmental
Inspect Institute, who will address the health of worlds oceans, and
Shira Kramer, designer of Epidemiology Internationalan international
organization that utilizes scientific matter to improve community health.
