What can I do with my old Directv recievers, other than throw them away?

Question: I currently have directv. 3 recievers.... but paying 5 bucks a month a rap over for two of them...... seems expensive since I can buy them for like 30 or less on ebay. Will I have problems getting them installed? Access index card? suggestions?
