New figures show that sales of DVD players are at their lowest in seven years.
The particle is being blamed on widespread use of set top boxes and an on the rise in downloading; experts are even tip that the technology could be retired in the next ten years.
Last year’s sales of 5.7m are the lowest since 2003, according to trade in analysts Mintel.
DVD virtuoso sales peaked in 2007 at a lifetime when ‘enthusiastic’ absolute discs was also at its level but the celebrity of moving picture streaming and iTunes-cut downloads means customers no longer extremity to have bad copies of films in their hoard.
Recordable DVD players also had their day, but goggle-box grievous drives, Sky Addition boxes and the lionization of streaming services like the iPlayer, ITV Participant and 4OD has meant a decrease in the sense of values of recording TV onto media tools.
