Big screens ascendancy for the Big Game.
In the week before the Super Bowl, sales of huge televisions minister to to spike.
"We were hoping we'd see that trend this year," said Leon Soohoo, proprietress of Paradyme Sound and Vision in Sacramento and Roseville. "It used to always be that way when we had competitive teams. I prospect with the 49ers (this season), we definitely would see an uptick."
Although it will be the New York Giants and not the Niners playing the New England Patriots in Wonderful Bowl XLVI, consumers nationwide will gravitate to larger goggle-box purchases this week. Adding to that pre-Bowl push: a steady chuck in prices.
With an audience of about 110 million viewers during game experience, Super Bowl Sunday Feb. 5 this year has become a TV soir holiday. It's second only to Thanksgiving in terms of American food consumption on a fasten on day. More Americans host Super Bowl parties than celebrate New Year's Eve.
At these millions of gatherings, the TV becomes the main star.
