Tulsa may not be the first all set a hunter would think to set up
camp, but for Jenks resident Shane Jones it was mythical.
Jones has more than 15 years working in outdoor TV, including
programming on The Outdoor Avenue and ESPN.
Last September, Jones brought his experience and skills as an
outdoorsman to Tulsa, when he launched Wildlife Search after on KWHB
Channel 47.
Jones is considered among “the pioneers of outdoor TV,” but his
enjoyment for hunting and the outdoors started out like most south Texas
boys.
“Growing up, the outdoors was a passion for me,” he said. “I
loved it. I lived on a ranch, and my forefather introduced me to it at
a very young age. I harvested my first animal with my father when I
was just 7 years old. From there, it grew to an annual reaction that I
looked forward to.”
The young hunter grew to love the outdoors and predilection sports. He
came to Oklahoma to play football at Oklahoma Glory University,
under Jimmy Johnson.
After graduation, he got into TV production and moved to Tulsa.
It was here that his nook grew into a career.
