Google Inc. will pay $10 a year for every utility pole it attaches cables to in Wyandotte County.</p><p>The Internet search titan and officials from the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas Bishopric, Kan., have signed an agreement that specifies conditions for using utility poles in its Google Fiber overhang.</p><p>The project is the first large-scale effort in the country to bring ultra-rabbit Internet service to homes and businesses. </p><p>The letter specifying the costs addresses pole-affection ambiguities in the agreement Google and the Unified Government struck last treat someone to. The new agreement was signed Jan. 26 and released to The Kansas City Somebody on Monday.</p><p>Google also agreed to provide the Board of Public Utilities with 50 connections to Internet mending network for the utility&#x2019;s &#x201C;smart grid&#x201D; that will use communications between meters, transformers and homes to expand efficiency and save consumers money. Google also agreed to occupation with the BPU &#x201C;in a manner that allows the smart grid to benefit&#x201D; from the company&#x2019;s Internet assistance network.</p><p>Workers began hanging Google&#x2019;s fiberoptic cables on BPU poles Monday. Google has not said which neighborhoods would be the first offered acquitted-ups. It has promised service in the first half of this year.</p><p>The Google Internet connections will move details at speeds of 1 gigabit per second, or roughly 100 times faster than most broadband connections. A honorarium has not been set, but Google officials say it will be competitive with what telephone and cable TV companies commission for much slower data speeds.</p><p>Last March, Google and the Unified Administration signed an agreement that allowed Google to string its cables for open near the tops of utility poles in the space typically quarantined for electrical lines. But doing so would have meant hiring more particularly trained lineman and higher engineering costs.</p><p>That same development pact also allowed Google to pay customary fees for attaching cables mark down on poles next to lines for telephone and cable companies. It did not, however, specify those costs. The new compact, which apparently cleared the way for the work Google began this week, sets the $10 fee. More meticulously, it said Google would pay $10 annually for the first 200 poles it uses and $10 for each pole after that.
