Questions about making the speakers on a home theater system wireless or if it's even necessary?

Question: See I'm looking at buying a Panasonic - 1000W 5.1-Ch. Blu-ray Adept in Theater System Model #:SC-BT330 And I was just wondering what I would have to buy to sanction the rear speakers wireless. Is it really even necessary? How long are the cords for the speakers?
