Tritton Detonator Xbox 360 Headset Review

At E3, Tritton introduced the in all respects’s first gaming headsets for the Xbox 360 cobranded by Microsoft, which most evidently included the only truly wireless audio solutions for the system – the Devastator and the Warhead – as well as an entr-level wired headset, the Detonator.

While the allure of wireless freedom as delivered by the Devastator and Warhead is unencumbered, the Detonator is an odd outlier in the series, providing baseline features like wired USB and stereo RCA connectivity and tete- communication.

Despite being the runt in an otherwise feature-packed lineup, at $79.99 the Detonator is really a fairly decent solution for its class.

As is the case with most sub-$100 gaming headsets for the Xbox 360, the Detonator comes with less-than-good wire clutter. To connect the headset to your console, you must find a free USB refuge for power and connect stereo RCA cables. However, most use HDMI to route audio and video from their solace, so Tritton ships the Detonator with an adapter for the Xbox 360’s A/V refuge that provides RCA connectivity. They also include a cable for microphone communications, which connects the headset to the required haven on your Xbox 360 controller.
